SHAYNA JACK

SWIMMER

Shayna’s passion for swimming started from the age of 18 months. From that point onwards she was emersed in water loving the way swimming made her feel. By the age of 10 years old she knew firmly what her aspirations were, telling her family that she was going to be an Olympian. An interesting fact about Shayna as an athlete is that she likes to ensure nothing can affect or impact the way she races so she purposely doesn’t have a step by step superstition that she does prior to races. However before she get up on the blocks she uses the ‘Vagus Nerve Rest’ method, which is 3 strong hits to the centre of your sternum to ensure she doesn’t panic or stress before diving in.

Her career highlights to date in include the unforgettable moment at the 2018 Commonwealth Games where she and the Australian team won gold in the 4x100m women’s freestyle relay and broke the world record. Out of the pool, her highlight would have to be winning her anti-doping case and having the opportunity to return to the pool and work towards representing Australia once again. Shayna has proven herself on her return to be more determined and hungrier than ever to show not only herself but the world what she is made of. Starting with this year’s World Championships and Commonwealth Games.

Shayna is a true example of what unrelenting resilience, resolute determination, and an unshakable belief in yourself can achieve.

At the tender age of 23, she has experienced the ultimate highs of winning gold at the Commonwealth Games to the devastating lows of having it all taken away. To be thrown into a world of lawyers, financial devastation, and mental health challenges few would have chosen to have endured. Yet she chose to fight till the end to clear her name and return to the sport she loves. Her story is incredible and will leave you wanting to barrack for not only her but for yourself and motivate you to stand up, follow your passion, and believe in yourself.

"Why did you choose to partner with LSKD?"

I chose and am honoured to join the team that is LSKD for their drive to inspire and change the future of athletic apparel. I am obsessed with their gym clothing as it is so comfortable to wear in the gym, around the pool pre and post swimming and finally their street wear is stunning and compliments all looks. Being an Australian built company, I hope to represent this community to the highest of quality and make them proud as one of their chosen athletes. I’m about creating a family around me as I swim my way to the Paris Olympics and it’s important to me to partner with brands that support me 100%, align to my values and welcome me to their family. LSKD have done that from the very beginning.

"How do you chase the vibe?"

I aim to chase the vibe day in and day out. Whether it be doing the extra 1% in the pool, gym and at home or pushing myself to experience things out of my comfort zone such as SAS Australia Season 1. I’m always chasing the vibe 😊

"The comeback?"

When people ask me if I am making a comeback my response is simple. I just race, and show them in the pool that I am back, better, stronger, faster than ever before. I want to show people that no matter what is thrown my way I will never give up on my dreams, I will never let others dictate what and who I stand for.
